Pinoy team wins 'Amazing Race Asia' for the 1st time

For the first time, a Filipino team finished first in The Amazing Race Asia.
Basketball player Richard Hardin and model Richard Herrera, more popularly known as "The Riches," bested 9 other teams in a race across 15 cities in 8 countries during the reality show's fourth season.
They took home the elusive title and a whopping $100,000 cash prize as they were the first to run to the mat in Singapore, the race's final pit stop.
Rebel pals Claire Goh and Michelle Ng from Singapore came in second place, followed by father-daughter tandem Hussein Baron and Natasha Sutadisastra of Indonesia.
The other Philippine team, party girls Jacinta James and Lani Pillinger, landed in fourth place.
Last season, Tisha Silang and boyfriend Geoff Rodriguez finished second in The Amazing Race Asia, while best buddies Marc Nelson and Rovilson Fernandez, ended up in third place in the second season.

‘Pilipinas Got Talent’ Invades Cebu and Davao

The country’s biggest nationwide talent-reality show “Pilipinas Got Talent” is set to conquer your TV screens once more as its much-awaited second season kicks off this first quarter of 2011.

Auditions started recently where thousands of hopefuls coming from Visayas and Mindanao flocked to the Cebu Institute of Technology University in Cebu and Philippine Women’s College in Davao and showed what they got in hopes of following the footsteps of PGT’s first grand winner Jovit Baldivino.

The team only visited two locations but the turnout of applicants already surpassed the combined number of applicants who auditioned in almost 20 cities during the first season.

“The number of people who auditioned is very overwhelming. We cant event take a break because the number of hopefuls to be interviewed and to be watched will surely pile up in a matter of minutes,” said Rancy Recato, Executive Producer of PGT.

Pinoys showed better and more intense talents be it singing, dancing, or even unique and unconventional acts.

Even applicants during the first season auditioned once more and trying their second shot at stardom.

“Pilipinas Got Talent” is indeed one of the most successful and most watched talent-reality show on Philippine TV and its grand winner Jovit Baldivino is definitely soaring greater heights with the break given to him by the show. Even finalists like the breakdancing Velasco Brothers, Ezra Band, singers Sherwin Baguion and Markki Stroem, magician Alakim, ventriloquist Ruther Urquia, and guitarist Keith Clark Delleva are already making their marks and taking their respective paths in the industry.

The show also performed very well in ratings. It was able to hit a high of 43.1% only on its second week of airing based on national ratings data from Kantar Media.

PGT also trended a couple of times in the famous social networking site Twitter, which only proves how widely viewed the show is by Pinoys worldwide.

To all PGT hopefuls, you can audition on Dec 15 and 16 at the Lyceum Northwestern University in Dagupan, and on Dec 18 and 19 at the ABS-CBN complex in Manila. Everyone is welcome to join, be it young or old; solo or in groups; as long as you have the talent to sing, dance, do magic, do extreme exhibitions, and any other possible form of talents. Other audition legs on other parts of the country will be held on January 2011.

Auditions will also be held in other parts of the country in January 2011.

ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp.’s shows and personalities dominated the 2010 Anak TV Seal Awards held this morning, December 8, at the Soka Gakkai Building in QC.

ABS-CBN brought home a total of 39 awards on Wenday, the Kapuso Network GMA-7 get 12 awards.

The "Anak TV Seal" was given to over 90 programs from various TV networks: 21 shows from Net25, 17 from NBN, 14 each from TV5 and UNTV, 13 from Q11, 6 from GMA, also 6 from ABS-CBN, 2 from IBC and 1 from Studio23.

While they were in high school, vocalist and rhythm guitarist Adam Levine, keyboardist Jesse Carmichael, bass guitarist Mickey Madden, and drummer Ryan Dusick formed a garage band called Kara's Flowers in 1995 and released one album in 1997.

The Blue Eagles wins collegiate basketball championship tournament (PCCL) crown last 2 games of the best-of-three finals against the much-improved Falcons.

They achieved the same feat last year when they faced the Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws in the finals.

Nugglepurl: The half-Filipino, half-Puerto Rican R&B singer-songwriter, music producer Peter Gene Hernandez 'Bruno Mars' has now earned a total of seven nominations at the 53rd Grammy Awards.

Mars, whose real name is Peter Gene Hernandez, scored nods mostly as a songwriter and member of the writing/production trio, The Smeezingtons (together with Philip Lawrence and Ari Levine).

Mars' team-up with B.o.B also warranted him nominations for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration and Best Rap Song. As a solo lead artist, Mars got a nod for Best Pop Vocal Performance for “Just The Way You Are” his debut single that spent four weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. Both songs have also been produced by The Smeezingtons.

The winner of TV5′s reality artista search–Star Factor–is none other than Eula Caballero from Cebu.

15 year-old Eula Caballero from Kalubihan, Talamban, Cebu City Philippines was declared winner of Star Factor’s Brightest Star during the grand finals held today, December 5, at the Ynares Sports Complex in Pasig.

Eula bested 3 other grand finalists – Morisette Amon, also from Cebu, who won 2nd brightest star, Christian Samson from Bulacan who placed third and Ritz Alzul of Pampanga who finished fourth.

Eula will bring home prize packages from Banana Peel and Ever Bilena, 4-year college scholarship from AMA Education System, P1-million talent contract with TV5, POne-million cash (tax free) and a brand new House and Lot at Trece Martirez, Cavite.
